Women Economic Empowerment
FJDP with support from SWISSHAND Foundation has since 2011 been implementing a household economic empowerment project called PROMIC[1] where women are provided with seed grants at zero collateral and near-to-zero interest rates to regain or improve their livelihoods and repay at comfortable tenures. Over 2,400 women have benefitted from this project and become self reliant. The success of the project has made FJDP to be selected by SWISSHAND Foundation to coordinate the project in Northern Nigeria covering Kano, Niger, Kaduna and Kogi.
FJDP has mainstreamed women economic empowerment in all interventions since 2021 thus making all projects to include components of poverty reduction activities targeting women. Thus, the protection project provides for targeted livelihood assistance to women identified through case management. Similarly, advocacy efforts in the community resilience and other peacebuilding projects also includes soliciting economic inclusion of women in project locations in all national social registers.
