Observed on every 21st of September world over, the International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. The day is dedicated to promoting and strengthening the ideals of peace around the world. It's a day for nations, communities, and individuals to come together in the spirit of peace and cease hostilities.
This year's theme, Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals, emphasizes the importance of taking concrete actions to promote peace and achieve the global goal of a more peaceful and sustainable world.
On this day of Peace, we, at the Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace stand firmly committed to the pursuit of lasting peace, equity, and progress for all. Our organization's name itself reflects our unwavering dedication to these ideals, and today, we unite with the global community to take meaningful actions toward achieving these goals.
Today, it is our fervent hope that through our collective efforts and the actions we take, we can create a world where everyone can live in safety and harmony, where homes are rebuilt, and families are reunited.
As we mark this day also, we remember the IDPS in Benue State and indeed every displaced person in the world. We pray for peace to return to those regions torn apart by conflict, so that displaced persons can return to their homes.
