FOOD AND NUTRITION SUPPORT TO IDPs IN UIKPAM CAMP
Sep 08, 2022
As an organization that recognizes, protects, and promotes the rights and dignity of every human person, FJDP earlier today conducted a vital distribution of blankets and mats to internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Ichwa camp in Makurdi. These individuals have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the fulani crises and are currently enduring dire living conditions. The makeshift tents they call home are often inundated with water, leaving them with no proper shelter and forcing many to sleep on bare floors without any cover. In response to their plea for assistance, FJDP reached out to ACN - Aid to the Church in Need, who graciously answered their call, enabling us to provide these IDPs with much-needed blankets and mats.
Among those present at this impactful event were the esteemed Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Revd. Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe CMF, the dedicated FJDP Makurdi coordinator, the Vicar General, and compassionate Sisters who traveled from Umuahia to witness the distribution and pledge their support to the IDPs in Benue. Also in attendance were members of the CSO's network group and other honored dignitaries.
The Bishop expressed profound gratitude to ACN - Aid to the Church in Need for their unwavering support of the displaced individuals in Benue state. He fervently prayed for a swift resolution to the crisis, yearning for the day when these affected people can finally return to the safety of their homes. The coordinator and Vicar General also extended their heartfelt appreciation to ACN for their compassionate act of kindness.
A total of 350 households were beneficiaries of this #distribution, and their joy knew no bounds. Overflowing with gratitude, they wholeheartedly thanked ACN for responding to their plea through FJDP. Their prayers echoed with blessings and well-wishes upon the organization.
In conclusion, FJDP is immensely grateful for the partnership with ACN and their continued responsiveness to our calls for assistance. We are empowered by this collaboration and look forward to further endeavors in upholding the rights and dignity of these poor IDPs.
