On the 28th of October 2022, the Administrative Manager Mrs. Blessing Adzaagee led a team of FJDP staff to the state headquarters of INEC to drum support for mainstreaming of disability needs in Electoral Processes to enhance participation of PWD in the forthcoming elections. This is part activities of the the project *Strengthening Local Advocacy for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Electoral Processes implemented by FJDP with funding from Irish Aid*.
The Head of Department, Gender and Civil Societies, INEC Head quarters Makurdi Mrs. Margaret Abakume who recieved the FJDP which was accompanied by the state chairman PWD Mr.Bem Anshe reiterated the commission's readiness to provide support to PWD to enable them exercise their franchise and the resolve of INEC to enhance effective implementation of the framework of inclusion of PWD in Electoral Processes.
She further stated that already magnifying glasses are in place as well as other PWD-friendly gadgets while all hands on deck to ensure inclusiveness of polling units as well. She also informed the team of the inclusion of PWD as INEC ad-hoc staff in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, a strategy to effectively respond to the needs of PWD at polling units.
FJDP extended visibility items to the INEC staff present as a show of gratitude for their continued efforts to share in the burden of providing support to PWD to enable their participation in Electoral Processes.
