The Education in Emergency Programme, sponsored by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Most Revd Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe CMF, and facilitated by the FJDP, embodies a noble mission. Its primary objective is to extend educational opportunities to children who had their education disrupted by the conflicts ignited by armed herders in their communities.
Since its inception in 2021, the program has provided a ray of hope for over 100 students hailing from seven different camps within the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi: Abagena, Daudu (1 and 3), Gbajimba, Uikpiam, Ortese, and Naka Camps, all situated in Benue State.
Continuing in its commitment to change lives through education, the organization has recently commenced the enrolment of new students in Naka, Agagbe, and Agasha Camps, where internally displaced persons (IDPs) have sought refuge. Just yesterday, the dedicated staff of FJDP conducted entrance examinations for IDP children who have completed their primary education and are eager to embark on their secondary education journey, despite the challenges posed by their displacement.
In the spirit of gratitude, these children expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the organization and the benevolent Bishop for this life-changing initiative.
This year, the Emergency Programme aims to support 50 children from Agasha, Agagbe, and Naka camps in their pursuit of education. These young minds will be distributed across five esteemed schools under the Diocese of Makurdi, nurturing a bright future for each child and reaffirming the organization's commitment to rebuilding lives through education. These schools include:
Mount Saint Michael Aliade
Mount Saint Gabriel Makurdi
Our Lady of Mount Carmel College Makurdi
Holy Child Secondary School Makurdi
Mount La Salle College Naka
As we embark on this journey, we invite you to join us in making a lasting impact in the lives of these deserving children. Your support will be instrumental in empowering them to overcome adversity and reach for their dreams.
