The plight of the Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Benue state has continued to linger in the hearts of well-meaning individuals, NGOs and government agencies.
Sadly, recent attacks on farmers by the herders has continued to occur within the state to the point of even attacking the IDPs in schools where they are taking refuge leading to multiple displacement.
In responding to the immediate needs of these IDPs who keep increasing in numbers, the Foundation for Justice Development and Peace (FJDP Makurdi) earlier today with UNHCR were at the Ortese IDP camp in Guma Local Government Area of Benue state to distribute Core relief items (CRIs ) donated by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons(NCFRMI) to IDPs.
The items distributed were: Rice, Garri, Vegetable oil, Palm oil, soap, Semovita, Salt and Maggi. A total of 72 households benefited from this distribution.
Many thanks to NCFRMI for the donation and thanks to UNHCR for her technical support.
