" Despite the relentless rains, our compassionate FJDP staff fearlessly venture into the elements to reach out to refugees and asylum seekers at the borders. They embarked on a crucial routine monitoring visit to the Ibaka border community in Akwa Ibom state, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to serving the most vulnerable.
Undeterred by the downpour, our staff valiantly conducted their duties at the border entry post in Mbo LGA, even without raincoats to shield them from the weather. Their selfless dedication resonates as they braved the storms to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of forcibly displaced individuals seeking refuge.
During their visit, our staff compassionately engaged with asylum seekers involved in fish trading at the Ibaka border beach and those working as boat assistants to the host community members. These meaningful interactions foster empathy, understanding, and solidarity, forging vital connections between communities and promoting social integration.
Furthermore, our staff paid a visit to the Immigration office, passionately advocating for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees, particularly their freedom of movement and access to territory. They tirelessly work to prevent any impediments to these fundamental rights and advocate for the fair treatment of forcibly displaced persons.
Additionally, they conducted comprehensive profiling activities for newly arrived individuals at the NIS border control post in Ibaka, ensuring their unique needs are promptly identified and addressed.
We commend our extraordinary FJDP staff for their boundless dedication and unwavering compassion. Their relentless efforts in the face of adversity have a profound impact on the lives of forcibly displaced persons. Together, we strive to create an inclusive environment where refugees and asylum seekers receive the essential support, care, and protection they deserve.
Thanks to UNHCR Nigeria for her technical and funding support.
