ABAGENA KILLINGS. Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue state.
There are continued attacks on the farmers in various communities of Benue state.
Recall that in May 2021at TSE Ancha Abagena community there was an attack by the Herders on farmers, the same incident was recorded at Abagena in April 2022, were so many lives were lost.
This sad event occurred again yesterday 19th January, 2023 at the Abagena community of Makurdi LGA of Benue state opposite the IDP camp along Duadu/ Lafia road.
The Catholic diocese of Makurdi Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace, FJDP Makurdi Coordinator and his team were at the scene of the incidence to get first hand information of the situation on ground.
According to the eye witness account from some of the victims, that the sad event occurred about 8:00pm through to 12:00am.
From the account, 9 persons comprising of six Males, two Females and a male child were killed.
While ten persons made up of seven females and three males reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries.The survivors are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in the state.
According to the report, the herders after the killings, made away with one head of one of the victims killed.
FJDP therefore,has joined a host of other concerned citizens to say NO to this barbaric act of KILLINGS of INNOCENT persons in Benue State by the Herders
