Yesterday, FJDP, in partnership with Caritas Nigeria under the project "Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement" (SCALE, Y2), commenced a three-day training in Benue State. The training focused on key strategies in risk mitigation and responding to SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) and CEFM (Child, Early, and Forced Marriage) for CSOs (Civil Society Organizations) and traditional and religious leaders.
The primary objective of this training is to enhance the participants' understanding of gender and sex concepts, as well as the societal roles ascribed to girls, women, boys, and men. Through interactive sessions and discussions, the participants will gain insights into these crucial aspects and explore ways to address the challenges associated with SGBV and CEFM.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezeta and Mr. Charles Aneni from Caritas Nigeria, a renowned organization operating both at the international level and within Nigeria across various dioceses. Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezeta provided comprehensive information about Caritas Nigeria, highlighting its significant work in collaboration with JDPCs (Justice, Development, and Peace Commissions) at the local level. In our case, FJDP MKD is actively engaged in this endeavor.
By bringing together CSOs, traditional leaders, and religious leaders, this training aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of effective strategies to combat SGBV and CEFM within the community. Through the collective efforts of all participants, we strive to create a safer and more inclusive environment for vulnerable individuals.
